Weekly Homework (WHW)
Every grade level, regardless of which course level they are in will need to complete a Weekly Homework (WHW) assignment. These are designed in a way to refresh the skills that are tested on the SmarterBalance test in the spring. Students are at a minimum one grade level ahead of the content they are tested on. Sometimes our ability is so far ahead of these grade level skills that we forget some of processes.
At the start of each week a paper worksheet will be available for students to pick up (6: green, 7: blue, 8: pink) in the classroom. These are due the last day of the week. Students are required to show work-- even the simplest work, they need to self-check their work before turning in, and will need to note what standards to practice on Khan Academy.
When can students complete this worksheet? At the start of class students will be given 5 minutes to prepare and practice for the day. They can do the worksheet in directed studies, at home, on the bus to away games, and during class work time. The best way for us to hone in on the skills that each individual needs to develop is for individual practice-- these WHW need to be completed without the assistance of other teachers, students, and parents. They do not impact a student's grade, they will impact success in NWEA and SmarterBalance testing.
Connecting to Khan and NWEA: between WHW and the NWEA testing, we will create an individualized plan for students to master all the necessary grade-level material while continuing to progress through higher-level material in advanced math.

PLEASE NOTE: Students are responsible for their own login information for all resources. Khan Academy was set up in class using school Google accounts, so passwords should match their chromebook logins; iPad users will need the app. Codes to join a class are listed below each resource. SpringBoard allows students to choose their own passwords, but usernames are assigned. When you click "forgot password" it will send Mrs. Abel a notification, unfortunately not the student. For help with SpringBoard, click the "forgot password" link, and then send Mrs. Abel an email at [email protected].
